We talk a lot about purpose, vision and values
at the Potter’s House, and they're all built on something
as important: our Statement
of Faith. These statements are a summary
of what we believe the Bible teaches which are the non-negotiable
basics of our relationship with Christ.
About God
God is the Creator and Father of the Universe. He has eternally
existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father.
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human
life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the
sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after
three days demonstrating His power over sin and death. He
ascended to Heaven where He is the only Mediator between
God and people, and will return again to earth to reign as
King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
About the Holy
Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God.
He is present in the world to make people aware of their need
for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment
of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living,
understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what
is right.
About Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to all people. Men and women can
never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works.
Only by believing in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness
can a person be saved from sin's penalty.
About the Bible
The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God's word to all.
It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance
of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are inspired by God, and
are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts.
They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters
of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly
inspired by God.
About Faith and
Practice
Scripture is the final authority in all matters of faith and
practice. We recognize that in areas where Scripture is silent,
there may be differences of conviction. Each believer is to be
led in those areas by the Lord, to whom he or she alone is ultimately
responsible.
